This student secured excellent marks in Class 12 and obtained a government quota seat in B.Sc. Agriculture. However, she has been struggling to pay her fees and Aalayam helped her with the first year fees. Her father is a lorry driver but does not support the family very much. Her older brother is the one who supports the family; he too works as a lorry driver. Another brother is studying engineering, with the help of an NGO which supports students of technical education only.
The family lives in the grandparents' home. An uncle who occasionally supported the family recently fell victim to COVID-19. Aalayam has help her for the last 2 years and she has requested us to help for the final year as well and after review, Aalayam has decided to support the student with Rs. 14,000 towards her fees.
